Engineering Intern (Project Management)
This job description is intended to be an overview of primary responsibilities for this position. All employees are charged with providing assistance in generally similar duties when management deems it necessary.
Organizational Relationships and Authority
The Engineering Intern is mentored by one of our Manufacturing Engineers and reports directly to the Engineering Manager. There are no direct management reports for this position. Engineering Interns collaborate extensively with the Operations Team.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Engineering Intern is to support the continuous improvement process at GSM.
Projects
Material consolidation that includes BOM updatesTime studiesOffset tooling
Additional responsibilities include:
Working on the floor in each department to understand GSM processes for an as time allows Completing tasks to support new equipment installation efforts (scheduling resources, recommending location and position, setting up maintenance schedules) Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers, supervisors and operators to gain understanding of manufacturing capabilities in order to better evaluate opportunities CAD Support Bill of Material entry Enters specifications Enters control plan Assists to complete prototypes and PPAP parts
Job Demands and Expectations
All administrative personnel are expected to update job knowledge on an ongoing basis by identifying and participating in functionally related educational opportunities.
Qualifications and Competencies
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess excellent ability for attention to detail. Success in this position requires ability to understand customer needs in depth and evaluate requirements relative to GSMs manufacturing capabilities.
