POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Molecular Medicine is seeking candidates with a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, or similar fields from an accredited institution and at least three years of postdoctoral research experience in experimental and behavioral neurobiology. Preference will be given for candidates who also possess basic molecular biology research with a background in in vitro and in vivo models of Alzheimer?s disease. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of academic research achievement or professional qualifications in the field specified above. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Research Associate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will investigate molecular and behavioral outcomes in transgenic mouse that represent Alzheimer?s disease risk following alcohol exposure. Under the guidance of the PI, the Research Associate will lead a research project that focuses on alcohol effects on ApoE function. The Research Associate will participate in experimental design, data generation, interpretation and evaluation, and communication of results. They will also be expected to develop manuscript and grant writing skills and participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, and presentations at national or international conferences. The Research Associate may be required to train and supervise junior lab members, develop new methodologies and protocols for research, and intellectually or experimentally contribute to other projects in the lab. The Research Associate will also be expected to take responsibility for a wide range of research activities to foster their growth into an independent investigator.
