Organization Summary:
The Department of Electrical Engineering at USF has 23 tenure-track/tenured faculty members and 2 professors of instruction hailing from some of the finest institutions in the country. Among these faculty we have NSF CAREER Award winners, Fellows of the IEEE, AAAS, AIMBE, and Distinguished University Professors. Many serve in national leadership roles in technical societies, such as the IEEE, and have industry experience to complement their academic backgrounds. This diversity in our faculty enriches the learning experiences of our students. The Department of Electrical Engineering offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees and serves approximately 600 undergraduate students, 120 M.S., students and 80 Ph.D. students. The department also leads the newly established MS in Cybersecurity degree in collaboration with sister departments in the college of engineering. Our faculty are active in research areas spanning machine learning applications in IoT, computer vision, wireless communications, nano/microfabrication, RF MEMS and IC's, radar, wireless and microwave systems, renewable energy source integration and smart grid automation, cybersecurity, data analytics, systems and control theory, robotics, electronic materials for sensors and energy applications, and more. Substantial collaborations with CyberFlorida , the Institute of Applied Engineering , and Moffitt Cancer Center are part of the department's growing research activities. Research expenditures for 2023 were $4.8 million.
Established in 1964 and currently led by Interim Dean Sanjukta, the College of Engineering at the University of South Florida is ranked #56 among public institutions (#85 overall) by U.S. News & World Report's 2023-2024 engineering graduate school rankings . The college serves more than 7,500 students, offering 11 bachelor's programs, nine of which are ABET-accredited, as well as 13 master's and eight doctoral degrees. Position Summary:
The Department of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering of the University of South Florida (USF) invites applications for tenure/tenure-track faculty positions at the Associate Professor level. Highly qualified candidates from all areas of electrical and computer engineering are encouraged to apply; preferred areas include: Computer Architectures; AI and Neuromorphic Computing; Multicore Processors and Parallel Programming; Distributed Computing; Quantum Computing and Communications; Nanoelectronics and Semiconductors; Packaging and Heterogeneous Integration; Analog, Digital, Mixed-signal, RF IC Design; System on a Chip; Hardware Security.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful applicants are expected to conduct research and teach in areas across the electrical and computer engineering disciplines. Successful candidates must be committed to the academic success of students, broadening participation in engineering, and support collaborations with areas of excellence across the university and beyond. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated excellence in scholarly research and publications, the strong potential for sustaining an externally funded research program, and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates should have completed or be near completion of a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates for senior ranks at the Associate Professor level must have demonstrated exceptional capabilities in externally funded research, instruction, and mentoring of students.
