GIS Project Manager (Information Technology)

Job Summary:
The GIS Project Manager is responsible for the project development, management, and delivery of indoor and/or outdoor GIS services, software, consulting, training, and project management services. Some travel is required.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Project Management
Develops project management plans for all assigned projects to ensure that deliverables, timelines, communications plans, and budgets are well defined and tracked.Ensures project team adheres to project management and client communications plans by tracking progress toward plan objectives. Provides regular updates to the leadership team and department managers. Prepares and presents internal status and activity reports as necessary pertaining to services and projects. Facilitates team and client meetings effectively, holds regular status meetings with project team, informs client and project team of changes within a project, effectively communicates relevant project information to department management, and understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.Efficiently manages assigned projects by coordinating with key participants, requesting needed resources, scheduling and conducting meetings, and providing updates to stakeholders. Must evaluate specifications, supporting documentation, plans, and estimates. May lead and direct the work of others. Works with members of the Leadership Team to establish and maintain the project management methodology used for all company projects (e.g. processes, quality assurance, standards, policies, best practices, templates, etc.) Develops, gains approval of, and implements goals and objectives.
f. Ensures financial related information for each project such as percentage complete, estimated costs and expenses are updated at all times. Communicates with Controller in regards to project status for purposes of billing and/or forecasting revenue for large and/or problem projects.
2. GIS Consulting
Consults, develops, and trains clients on GIS workflows and standard operating procedures for outdoor public safety, and/or Indoor safety and Security projects.Trains clients on the use of public safety GIS solutions.Consults with clients to develop and document appropriate QA/QC plans for accuracy and completeness of GIS data used for public safety purposes.Lead project teams in GIS data analysis and GIS data development for use in public safety dispatch, CAD, and NG9-1-1 software solutions.Assists GIS Managers in internal GIS process improvement efforts.
3. Sales and Marketing Support
Develops subject matter expert presentations, webinars, and whitepapers.Represents GeoComm at industry conferences (e.g., NENA, APCO, Esri, etc).Assists proposal team in reviewing and determining customer pricing for GIS consulting and project management services.
d. Assists proposal team and GIS Managers by defining GIS project scopes for inclusion into proposals.
e. Assists with the development of new services and product offerings.
f. Assists sales team members with GIS consultative sales presentations.
4. Identifies, researches, and develops methods to ensure GIS workflows are optimized for effectiveness and efficiency.
a. Maintains company-wide GIS standards and keeps abreast of current GIS procedures and practices.
b. Maintains an advanced knowledge level of Geoprocessing tools used to automate GIS tasks.
c. Researches and develops tools to automate GIS processes and workflows in Operations.
d. Assists and with GIS Managers to provide feedback concerning GIS processes and services that can be improved through lean tools and processes (e.g., Kaizen Events).

Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelors Degree or other related job experience
Related Experience: 5+ years
Desirable Training and Experience:
Advanced GIS knowledge.
NENA Emergency Number Professional (ENP) certification within two years of holding position.
Work towards PMI Project Management Professional certification within two years of holding this position.
Work towards a GIS Professional (GISP) certification within one year of holding this position.
Solid research skills, written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to deal with complex situations and collaborate effectively with local and remote personnel
Ability to perform highly responsible assignments requiring experience, judgment, and discretion
Ability to coordinate tasks for varied program and project areas.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Advanced 9-1-1 knowledge.
