Engages in high quality economic research, analysis, and discussions that are used to advise and inform the President and Board of Directors on economic conditions and/or various policy issues. Maintains consistent, independent research activity, including internal and external publications and presentations. Contributes to the process of identifying and instituting improved economic policies. Informs and enlightens a broader audience of policymakers and interested parties, and furthers our knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of economic issues. Actively participates in the public education mission of the Research department.
Essential Accountabilities
1.Conducts high level economic research (compared with less senior positions) for the purpose of maintaining and building a base of knowledge and expertise.
2.Maintains a high-profile research agenda on issues relevant to the Federal Reserve and publishes regularly in leading journals as an internationally recognized leader in his/her research field. Presents research at internal and high-profile external venues.
3.Keeps informed of current economic issues and provides advice on economic policy issues of interest to stakeholders through briefings and other written and oral communications.
4.Responds to economic policy questions by writing articles and giving speeches.
5.Provides statistical and technical expertise to improve operational efficiency.
6.Manages various department products and research functions to provide an economic perspective and enhance decision-making.
7.Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
