NP/PA Clinical Preceptor (Personal Services)
Assist the Program Director and Medical Director in continuously re-evaluating anticipated educational needs of fellows as requirements of the NP/PA evolve and change.
Assist in selection of fellowship candidates.
Meet with the Program Director weekly to discuss programmatic issues.
· Attend all required meetings related to the fellowship, which at times, may include lunch meetings.
· Team building events and meetings are an important part of the success of the Fellowship Program and attendance of these events should be a priority.
· Take appropriate history and physical examination of patients.
· Order pertinent diagnostics and implement appropriate therapy according to scope of practice guidelines.
· Obtain supervising physician's consultation when problems presented are outside scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patient's care according to the PA/NP Standardized Procedures.
· Communicate effectively with the patients while involved with their health care, including providing appropriate patient education while answering questions and in history taking.
· Demonstrate competent knowledge in delivering health care to patients through the peer review processes including chart review, by interactions with physician preceptors and by working collaboratively with support staff and all staff of SCHC.
· Become an integral part of the clinical staff through participation in Medical Staff meetings, PA/NP meetings, and other committees of SCHC.
· Other duties as assigned.
Evaluation
Assist the Program Director and Medical Director in the development and completion of all program evaluations.
Recruitment
Assist the Program Director and Medical Director in recruitment activities as assigned.
Work with the Program Coordinator on recruitment schedules, student rotations, and professional school outreach.
Mentoring
Meet with fellows on an "as needed" basis to help with problem solving and career counseling.
Advise fellows on career development.
Serve as a role model for fellows by maintaining a limited panel of patients and providing clinical care for those patients.
Make sure Fellows are logging in procedures and meeting deadlines as assigned.
· Provide academic advising and guidance to fellows; manage fellows' education and performance, including coordination of individual instruction (advising).
Other Duties
Become an integral part of the Medical staff through participation in medical staff and other clinic meetings.
Responsible for maintaining credentials by keeping all required licenses current, including but not limited to California Medical License, DEA licenses, CME hours, CPR Certifications and any other required licenses. It is the responsibility of the clinician to give the Credentialing Specialist current credentials before old credentials expire.
Willingly comply with Title 22 regulations regarding health care and infectious disease.
Willingly performs other duties within the scope of practice as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Current unrestricted California license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
· Minimum 3 years of practice as a provider or graduation from SCHC Postgraduate Fellowship.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical position or graduation from SCHC Postgraduate Fellowship.
· Demonstrates commitment to utilizing Best Practices to enhance a learning environment and serve as a professional role model to the NP/PA Fellowship Program fellows.
· Demonstrates expertise as primary care provider providing high quality care to populations served by the health center.
· Minimum 2 years' experience on electronic medical records.
· Demonstrates knowledge of compliance issues within the community clinic environment
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal, written, and electronic means.
· BCLS certification.
· Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
ACLS certification.
Clinical instruction experiences preferred.
