LRMC Clinical APP (Finance)
Manages hospital care of neurosurgery patients according to protocol established with neurosurgeons and their hospital. Observes, evaluates, and documents patient's physical, cognitive and emotional reactions in appropriate medical records systems. Prepares patients for discharge, which includes prescriptions and follow-up instructions and completion of Discharge Summaries. Acts as first assistant in neurosurgical operative cases at the request of faculty neurosurgeons with the potential for call coverage expectations as defined by the hospital partner. Conducts in-depth interviews with patients and/or family, constructs comprehensive medical histories, performs initial and periodic physical examinations and explores patient's interpretation of health needs. Performs post-operative assessments.
Completes medical paperwork such as FMLA, Worker's Compensation, etc. Communicates with patients via MyChart and phone conversations. Updates patient's records, noting changes in medication and responses to patients. Writing orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by physician. Participates in in-service education programs and professional associations.
Under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is responsible for performing physical examinations and treating common episodic and chronic health care problems, counseling patients and families, monitoring patient progress, assisting with medical research projects. Works in collaboration with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retains responsibility for ongoing clinical management of the patient. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
