Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities include exercise science and kinesiology courses for the traditional undergraduate program through in-person, hybrid, or online modalities. Mentor and advise students. Ensure a positive and effective learning environment for students. Support student success efforts such as remediation, success plans, etc. Conduct ongoing program assessment through data collection, review, and analysis. Set an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff, and faculty. Assist in recruiting prospective students for the undergraduate kinesiology programs. Establish relationships with program stakeholders. Assist in curriculum evaluation and development. Pursuit of professional development within discipline as it relates to the mission of SBU. Participate in department and university committees as well as support other university functions. Scholarship within discipline strongly encouraged.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in a rehabilitative sciences field (i.e. athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy). Experience or advanced education in areas of Orthopedic Assessment, Therapeutic Modalities, Rehabilitation Techniques, Anatomy and Acute Care. Demonstrate an Evangelical Christian faith compatible with SBU's mission. Preference will be given to Southern Baptists. Embrace and promote the mission of SBU. Strong desire to pursue excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate or other approved terminal degree in a rehabilitative sciences or closely related field. Certified Athletic Trainer. NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Previous teaching experience.
