As senior human factors engineer, you will work closely with marketing, engineers, and clinical to ensure a user centric approach is used in defining and developing products. You will also collaborate with quality and regulatory to create the usability documentation required for regulatory submissions. You will work independently or under the general direction of a lead engineer and/or project manager. This role may be assigned to any of the different products within endoscopy OU.

A Day in the Life
• \tRepresent human factors on a project core team on a more than one project at a time
• \tPlan and conduct task analysis and user research studies for new product/ system/sub-system concepts
• \tCompile, organize and synthesize results of field observations, surveys and usability test results into internal communications and presentations for product teams and leadership
• \tContribute to workflow and user interface designs
• \tWrite usability engineering documents such as task analysis, usability risk analysis, usability requirements, study protocol and test reports in a timely manner
• \tAnalyze data to identify root causes of observed use errors
• \tDesign, execute and report on usability evaluations and tests at various stages of product development from concept exploration to formal validation testing required by US/OUS regulatory agencies
• \tPrepare and support usability assessment documentation for US/OUS regulatory submissions.
• \tManage usability engineering activities within projects and provide schedules and status updates to project team
Requirements
• \tBachelor's degree in human Factors, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design or a related field with 4+ years of experience; MS or higher with 3+ years of experience in medical device development
• \tStrong understanding of usability standards (IEC 62366, ANSI HE75, FDA Human Factors Guidance)
• \tExcellent oral and written communication skills
• \tStrong analytical and organizational skills
• \tExperience working with devices involving both software and hardware preferred
• \tExperience working through all phases of new product development cycle preferred

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies - from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have practical knowledge of project management.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. • 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$114,400.00 - $171,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
