The Optical Technician is responsible for various tasks for patient's aged 2-100, for the maintenance and control of supplies and equipment, and for assigned clerical activities. An Optometrist or Optician supervises the Optical Technician.Essential Duties:
Assists patients with their selection of frames and pick-up deliveries
Assists with entering orders/scripts into MVE
Keeps Dispensary and work areas neat and stocked with a variety of frame designs
Interacts with patients and other staff in a professional and respectful manner, which reflects the needs and concerns of the individual. Consistently provides excellent customer service and makes patients feel welcome. Maintains a positive attitude. Uses communication devices appropriately.
Effectively communicates with patients/customers regarding wait time and/or delays
Communicates charges to for frames and lens to patients and to the registration staff.
Works with the Optician and Optometrist in the selection of frames
Answers telephones, and calls patients as needed.
Reports delays in supply orders, safety and equipment problems, and malfunctioning or missing equipment.
Education:
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Experience:
At least 1 year in an eye glass lab or dispensary.

Schedule: 18 hours a week- Flexible
Starting hourly rate: $22.00 up to $33.00 based on experience.
