Your Role: Senior Director Medical Strategy – US PH Marketing
The Senior Director Medical Strategy – US PH Marketing is responsible for setting medical strategy for the total US Pet Health portfolio and manages a team responsible for all aspects of medical including brand and category dynamics, conferences and medical education, and key opinion leader management. The leader and the team provide actionable medical insights to the marketing and sales teams to drive business performance.
The incumbent will report to and work closely with the US Pet Health Marketing Leadership and the Category Directors who comprise the US Marketing Leadership Team, as well as R&D and Global Innovation.
Participate in the US Pet Health Marketing Leadership Team which sets the strategic direction for Marketing in the US.
Your Responsibilities:
Medical Strategy-
Lead the medical strategy for the US Pet Health portfolio, managing a team that provides actionable insights to marketing and sales, and collaborates with cross-functional teams, including US Marketing Leadership, Category Directors, R&D, and Global Innovation, to drive business performance and set strategic direction.
KOL/ Industry/ Organizations-
Develop and execute the Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Program Strategy in collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and consulting veterinary teams, while building strong relationships with key veterinary organizations, sponsoring scientific projects, coordinating educational events, and ensuring Elanco's representation on professional boards and advisory committees, both domestically and in collaboration with international teams.
Financial Management-
Develop, manage, and ensure adherence to the annual budget for the medical strategy and conferences teams, including overseeing monthly and quarterly budget processing and ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
Education/ Conferences-
Oversee the development and execution of the national conference and education strategic plan, managing the Conference and Live Events Manager, budgeting, and operational expenses, while coordinating conference schedules, ensuring optimal reach and presence, integrating conference data into the customer journey, and collaborating with medical strategic leads and training teams to provide accurate technical training for the consulting veterinary and sales teams.
Team Management-
Manage, build, and lead a high-performing team by coaching existing members, addressing talent gaps, and supporting internal and external learning opportunities to help the medical strategic lead team reach their full potential; represent the medical voice in strategic marketing discussions, and champion enterprise thought leadership to inspire the broader marketing organization.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
Education: DVM (or equivalent) or doctoral degree in veterinary sciences from an accredited institution
Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in an animal health related position in industry with marketing experience preferred
Demonstrated strong strategic thinking and project management skills, and ability to work with different stakeholders, make decisions and execute plans

Additional Information:
Elanco currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from $144,000.00 to $240,000.00 depending partly on the successful candidate's qualifications, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending partly on company and individual performance). Additionally, Elanco offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees that includes a company-matching 401(k); vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities). Of course, the compensation is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
