ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Neurology has entered the forefront of this exciting era by strategically aligning a wealth of resources in the basic and clinical neurosciences throughout the University, in partnership with the novel USF Neuroscience Collaborative. The neurology department continues to grow and maintain the largest clinical research portfolio in the MCOM.
USF Neurology also offers optimal training and education to our medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians and the community. Our residency program is large and robust, with excellent clinical training and patient resources across the full spectrum of Neurology, as well as a rich and detailed didactic curriculum over the three years of training, including a guaranteed first year of general internship for entering residents. We offer all of this in the beautiful urban center and coastal resort community of Tampa, Florida.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Unit Research Administrator acts as a primary contact between the unit's Principal Investigators and Sponsored Research/OCR, on the development, review and subsequent programmatic and financial administration of grants and contracts. This position collects and manages patient and/or laboratory data for a clinical research project. The position oversees the screening and enrollment of clients, performs clinical procedures as required by protocols, gathers and analyzes data on health care programs, develops and maintains various data bases, ensures quality control and compiles reports for regulatory compliance.
Duties also include: Start up, close out, amendments, continuing reviews, contracts with vendors, budgets, working with OCR, co-adminstration of the research team, and training new employees. Position includes oversight and training for new coordinators, oversight and training for continuing training for established coordinators, spot checking source documents, and also working on any potential pending audits. Job position also ensures that employees work their hours, that they work unless on break or lunch, and that they develop empathy and good communication skills towards the patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees medical or health recruiting and screening protocols, collecting data for research studies. May oversee remote screening locations. Monitors laboratory tests and referrals. Recruits and trains assistants who gather data.
Monitors compliance of study procedures with Federal, state and university regulations. Ensures that documents such as eligibility forms and informed consent are appropriately gathered and maintained, HIPAA regulations are followed, and that infection control, and safety procedures are implemented. Interprets rules and regulations pertaining clinical research to ensure compliance in research projects.
Recommends changes in procedures in order to locate accept and track clients. Collects and analyzes data from clinical trials or other medical screening. Creates data bases based client information or medical records, and analyzes data. Collaborates with social workers and professional agencies to provide services related to health conditions.
Composes and disseminates information on studies to clients and the general public. Acts as performance consultant to subcontractors or health departments to produce model quality programs. Drafts program reports for publication and/or public dissemination. Provides education to clients and clients families regarding clinical protocols. Provides assistance in general clinic when necessary, which includes but may not be limited to patient intake procedures, histories, vitals and medication history.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of professional administrative experience; or a Master's degree. Progressively responsible related experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
2-4 years of clinical research experience.
