Data Science and Analytics Intern (Finance)



Job Overview

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking an intern at our Hiram, OH location. Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in a variety of business projects and opportunities as part of the GLC Intern Association.
  • Participate in a variety of personal and professional developmental workshops.
  • Participate and execute in a community service project in alignment with GLC's corporate social responsibility initiative.
  • All GLC interns are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
  • All GLC interns are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
  • Will be exposed to SAP Suite of Products. Any exposure to SAP will be added advantage.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques
  • Applies a data driven approach with analytical rigor to deliver actionable intelligence to stakeholders including reports, visualizations and analyses
  • Conduct quantitative analysis on large data sets with manager and team support
  • Find patterns or anomalies by building out visualizations
  • Answer key business questions through exploration data analysis and discovery
  • Proven strengths in data science and analytics development with large datasets
  • Collecting data via SQL queries

Required Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or Computer Science
  • Experience working with relational databases (SQL)
  • Understanding of Machine Learning techniques
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, able to work well independently.
  • Skilled in R or Python and SQL
  • GitHub exposure
  • Date engineering/modeling knowledge

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office setting.

• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35°F to 100°F; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
