Biostatistician - Orthopedic Research (Finance)
UTHealth Houston is seeking a Biostatistician to join their team of professionals in Orthopedic Research. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our academic research efforts by collaborating closely with physicians and the research team. Your expertise in biostatistics will help enhance the quality and effectiveness of our studies, ultimately contributing to advancements in orthopedic care.
Key responsibilities include conducting power and statistical analyses, collaborating with physicians and the research team, and utilizing large databases like Pearl Diver for data extraction and manipulation. Additionally, the role involves managing data with REDCap and contributing to research publications and presentations.
Daily tasks for this position involve analyzing datasets from ongoing research studies, assisting in the design and implementation of data collection tools using REDCap, and coordinating with other departments to ensure comprehensive dataset integration. This ensures that the research team has accurate and insightful statistical data to support their studies.
Preferred qualifications for the role include experience with statistical software packages such as R, SAS, or SPSS, managing and analyzing data from large healthcare databases, and familiarity with advanced statistical techniques. This expertise will be crucial in supporting the research team's efforts and contributing to advancements in orthopedic care.

Provides statistical support for research using large administrative datasets among other various data sources.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Certification/Skills:
Demonstrates proficiency with statistical methods and applications in clinical research.
Experience in data analysis of large administrative datasets (claims, registries, EMR) and observational studies.
SAS experienced preferred.
Minimum Education:
Master's degree in related health science. PhD preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Two years of statistician experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
