The Accounting and Internal Controls Director is accountable for:
• \tPartnering with Internal Audit to develop and execute plan to enable smooth transition to 404b audit testing and reporting by external auditors.
• \tDeveloping, maintaining and evolving accounting procedures and transactional internal controls in line with changing business needs to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and management reporting requirements.
• \tProviding technical and analytical oversight to ensure high risk accounting estimates and journal entries are performed without error and in accordance with US GAAP
• \tOverseeing complex revenue reserves and processes
This senior position will interact with senior management, operations employees, external auditors, consultants and third parties as well as indirectly oversee the work of a team of employees.What you'll be doing

• Internal Controls
• Oversee elements of the Company's SOX documentation including Risk Control Matrix and Process Narratives that impact the Global Accounting team.
• Lead the transition to becoming 404b compliant
• Supervise the review of controls with process owners to ensure the precision and rigor of the supporting analysis provides appropriate evidence of the completes and accuracy of the activity.
• Oversee, monitor and evaluate internal control design and operating effectiveness
• Accountable for ensuring appropriate root cause of control analysis of deficiencies and ensuring remediation activities occur
• Reviews all system access requests to ensure proper segregation of duties
• Process Improvement & Project Management
• Develop and deploy the process of implementing new accounting standards across the global organization and serve as the project manager. Provide training to management as needed.
• Supports the enhancement of Bioventus organizational processes, controls and systems to support timely and accurate accounting in accordance with GAAP.
• Responsible for identifying, recommending and implementing process improvement.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Close the Books
• Ensure that journal entries are properly recorded in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Performs in-depth review of key account reconciliations and journal entries
• Evaluate and review key estimates within the Company's books and records including, allowance for doubtful accounts, rebates, cut-off, and other contractual adjustments, inventory reserves, impairment testing of goodwill and intangibles among others
• Suggests and implements enhancements, simplification and automation of key revenue reserves.
• Interpret new accounting guidance and prepare summaries of the new accounting rules
• Maintain company policies and procedures to be in line with current US GAAP guidelines.
• Evaluate the related disclosure requirements to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Support as needed in the technical review of issues or memos to ensure timely and well documented conclusions are provided.
• Assist in preparation of SEC reports including form 10Q and 10K
• Assist in technical accounting research and projects
• Relationships
• Partners closely with Internal Audit team and serves as management owner of internal controls.
• Externally interfaces with strategic consultants. Internally interfaces with cross functional groups (i.e. operations, commercial operations, surgical commercial leaders, International BU, marketing, compliance, legal, and human resources)
• Key communication role in ensuring remainder of Finance team informed of developments and activities
• People Leadership
• Coach and assist in performance of an extended team, ensuring focus on completeness and accuracy of all process objectives.

What you'll bring to the table

• Education
• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Relevant advance degree is preferred but not required
• CPA required
• Knowledge/ Skills
• Significant knowledge of SOX
• Significant knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Highly effective communicator (up, across, down) both written and orally, with the ability to distil complex topics and explain them in "plain English"
• Ability to proactively identify problems and respond quickly
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage projects that are complex in nature where professional judgment is required in solving problems and making recommendations.
• Demonstrated strong accounting and analytical/problem solving skills.
• SAP & PBCS experience preferred, but not required.
• Experience
• Minimum 8-10 years' financial accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years public accounting.
• Experience with an international company preferred.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting
