ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The department of Molecular Medicine is a basic science department in the Morsani College of Medicine.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Scientist duties are varied and require theoretical knowledge as well as research experience in animal husbandry, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biology research. Perform routine and more complex technical duties to assist co-workers in the laboratory. Collect and analyze data and specimens. Responsibilities include: setting up and performing experiments, and interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform technical and research functions on projects by assisting in PCR genotyping, behavior tests, tissue harvest, immunohistochemistry, qPCR, and other mouse characterizations.
Prepare reports on experiments and data for review and analysis by the research supervisor.
Assist in general laboratory inventory and maintenance.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a natural, physical or medical science.
PREFERRED:
One to two years of full-time employment in a molecular biology or cell biology laboratory is highly desirable. Preference will be given to those with extensive immunohistochemistry or molecular biology experience.
